La Mer at French Beach
Oceanfront Vacation Rental Home on Vancouver Island, BC

La Mer at French Beach is the perfect year-round get-away destination…..whether for romance, honeymoons, sight-seeing, outdoor adventure, or for serenity and solitude. It is a stunning, tastefully furnished and decorated architectural masterpiece, perched on a cliff above the dramatic Pacific Ocean.

This dazzling, contemporary, 3 story, 4650 square foot home offers breathtaking unobstructed views of the ocean and the distant snow-capped Olympic Mountains. From virtually anywhere in the home, one can witness awesome ocean sunsets, displays of orca and grey whales, otters, sea lions, harbour seals, and eagles in their natural habitat. Experience pollution-free air and a virtual complete absence of man-made noise and distractions.

World class salmon and halibut fishing, swimming, kayaking, biking, boating, surfing, rafting, golfing, sailing, hiking, ziplining, and diving are just a few of the many outdoor activities available just minutes away.

Or……..simply indulge yourself at home gazing at the ever-changing seascape while serenaded by the waves, gulls, eagles, and a seasonal waterfall below the house.

La Mer's sensuous interior is exquisitely complimented by the natural outdoor splendor enveloping the home….the boundary appears to dissolve as a consequence of expansive windows and skylights. During the day, the entire house is suffused with a wondrous interplay of natural light and color. At night, warm mood lighting enhances dining, conversation, entertaining, or simple contemplation.

Winter Storm Watching

Winter is a very special time of year on the southwest coast of Vancouver Island. La Mer is ideally situated to offer dramatic storm watching from the comforts and safety of home. Imagine relaxing in comfort and elegance, listening to your favourite music or reading while witnessing the drama and fury of crashing waves just outside.

As a consequence of the warming Japanese current, temperatures rarely dip below freezing and measurable snowfall is rare. In fact, winter temperatures are usually only a few degrees cooler than those of northern California. Interestingly French Beach lies in a "rain shadow" of sorts and receives less rainfall than most west coast communities. Beautiful sunny days are not at all unusual in the winter!

Another pleasant surprise for many newcomers in winter is the lushness of the landscape…..a veritable carpet of green embracing the ocean.
